Battersea Utility Tunnel B

I must say that I love Battersea! Everything about it. A few weeks after my first visit there, we decided to also check the utility tunnels. Well, we also wanted to see if they are flooded after hearing some (untrue as usual) rumours about it. We met up with Miss Pink and Mr. Orange and went to check Battersea Utility Tunnel A first, unfortunately finding it completely sealed… Then it took us sometime to get inside B one. Those who’s been there know how ridiculous the way in is…

Couldn’t find more information online than this: Battersea Utility tunnels A & B – two tunnels built in the 1920’s that run under the river Thames to either side of Chelsea Bridge carrying HV electrical cables. A third tunnel also exists that was used to carry steam from the power station to the Churchill Gardens Estate.

Getting through two ladder rungs paid off, tunnels look really impressive, especially the fact the they are various sizes.

And again I didn’t take many shots, admiring spending time with friends. Although managed to take a few of the amazing shaft, that leads to Battersea Power Station site.

And Miss Pink climbing down the shaft.

And again another tunnel done, great night in a good company.
